17-year-old arrested for murder of 2 men in east Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs police say a 17-year-old male has been arrested for murder charges after two men were killed in east Colorado Springs in late June.
The shooting happened on June 29 near 300 N. Murray Blvd. One of the victims died at the scene, and another died later at the hospital.
According to an update from CSPD, police identified the suspect and got an arrest warrant on July 23. The 17-year-old was arrested on Tuesday.
The El Paso County Coroner’s Office identified the victim found at the school as 18-year-old Kevin Santana-Villa, and the victim who died at the hospital was 22-year-old Diego Cruz-Aceves. Both men are from Colorado Springs.
Police said “two groups were involved in an altercation” on the track of the Jack Swigert Aerospace Academy, and then shots were fired.
The suspect hasn’t been identified at this time.

Two men are dead following a shooting in east Colorado Springs early Saturday morning.
Officers responded to the 300 block of North Murray Blvd. just before 5 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found a deceased man on the track field of Jack Swigert Aerospace Academy.
A second man with serious injuries was found in the 4000 block of East Bijou St. He was transported to the hospital where he later passed away.
Further investigation revealed that the men were involved in an altercation on the track of the Jack Swigert Aerospace Academy, during the altercation shots were fired.
The incident is being investigated as a homicide.
