Severe thunderstorms move across southern Colorado, June 7

Storms bringing hail, rain, and a lot of lightning moved across Colorado Springs and southern Colorado Friday afternoon.

UPDATE: Still a few lingering showers in El Paso County but the severe weather threat has come to an end for the evening in Colorado Springs. The potential for strong thunderstorms will transition to the eastern plains tonight. A relatively weak thunderstorm is currently located southeast of Pueblo and is moving northeast, it should cross HW 50 between Pueblo and Boone shortly.

Earlier: A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for northeast El Paso County until 5:15 p.m., but warnings and weather advisories are expected throughout the evening.

Some storms could bring ping pong ball-sized hail, others may have penny-sized hail.

Lightning is also a concern as bolts were seen flashing across the sky in southwest Colorado Springs.
