UPDATE: Son arrested after fatal shooting of his father on Lake Ave. in Pueblo

UPDATE: The Pueblo County Corner and Pueblo Police department identified the victim in yesterday’s shooting as 64-year old James Morrow. His son, 34-year old Nathanial Morrow, was arrested and charged with first degree murder in connection to his fathers death.

As to the how and why the shooting occurred on the 200 block of Lake Avenue is unclear to the public at this time.

Neighbors were shocked by the news, and never saw any of this coming.

“He is not a killer. He isn’t like that,” said Nathan Handy, a childhood friend and neighbor to Nathanial Morrow. “I don’t know if this was an accident or on purpose. I don’t know if his dad pulled a weapon on him or what. But when it comes down to Nathanial, the one that I know. This isn’t him, he isn’t a killer. He’d rather help out a person. He doesn’t have that type of anger. If he did, he didn’t show it.”

Handy did say that the relationship between the father and son were rocky at time growing up, and the two were known to argue.

The investigation is still ongoing.
