City Forestry continues to cleanup downed trees in Colorado Springs

The Colorado Springs Forestry Division is continuing to cleanup downed trees following last week’s blizzard.

After receiving approximately 170 requests, priority was placed on impact and safety concerns. City Forestry is focusing first on trees blocking the public right of way or those that pose a danger to the public.

Downed trees on private property are the responsibility of the owner. Contact home insurance or a private tree removal company. The City will not respond unless there is a threat to life, safety concerns or a power line is involved.

For people hauling their own debris, there are places taking trees and limbs. Rocky Top Resource is one place people can take trees. They charge $5 per cubic yard with a $20 minimum.

You can bring your trees that are coming from your residence to Rocky Top on Saturday for free with a non-perishable food or cash donation for Care & Share.

If you think you have a tree that the City needs to haul away, you can file a claim here or call (719)-385-5942.

To report downed trees in roadways call Colorado Springs Public Works at (719)-385-ROAD.

If a tree is touching a power line – stay away and immediately call Colorado Springs Utilities at (719)-448-4800.
