Weather Alert: Rain and snow ahead – 3/1/19

TODAY: Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast for the first part of the day with increasing clouds and breezy conditions by the afternoon. A few rain showers or sprinkles are likely over the Palmer Divide and in Teller County after 2PM today, but it won’t be anything to wash out your day or slow you down on the roads. Flakes will be mixing in over the high peaks. Afternoon highs will be in the 50s and 60s. Mountain cities will warm into the 40s.

TONIGHT: Low clouds and fog develop. Flurries and freezing drizzle are possible. Overnight lows cool to the 20s.

EXTENDED: Snow ramps up following noon tomorrow. It will be dropping from the north into the Pikes Peak Region and will spread south and east. Rain and snow is possible in the lower elevations and out over the plains. During the evening, cold air mixes in and chances everything over to snow. This will make for some icy roads and bad driving conditions through Saturday night and into Sunday morning. Moderate accumulations are expected around Southern Colorado. 2-5+” is likely through Springs and Teller County, 2-4″ in Pueblo, and anywhere from 1-3″ to 2-4″ over Walsenburg, Trinidad and out over the Plains.
