Suspect arrested for robbing NE Colorado Springs businesses

Colorado Springs police say they found a man with outstanding warrants and then discovered evidence that he was involved in four armed robberies earlier this month.

According to a post by CSPD, 36-year-old Leo Doherty was contacted “during a call for service” on Sunday and patrol officers found he had warrants. Police say Doherty was also in a car that matched the description of a getaway vehicle used in a recent armed robbery.

The department’s Robbery Unit was called to investigate and searched the vehicle. They found “multiple items of evidence including a shotgun” that connected Doherty to four armed robberies, according to police.

The robberies happened at:

02/12/19, Pizza Hut, 6131 Barnes Road 02/14/19, 7 Eleven, 4325 South Carefree Circle 02/15/19, Subway, 5754 Palmer Park Boulevard 02/16/19, Pizza Hut, 3345 North Academy Boulevard

Doherty faces multiple robbery charges and is also being held in the El Paso County jail on the outstanding warrants.
