Colorado Springs Police respond to shots fired call at the Citadel Mall

Gunshots were fired at the Citadel Mall early Saturday afternoon and Colorado Springs Police are still trying to find the people responsible.

Police were at the mall around 3:45 p.m. Saturday for an unrelated call, when officers heard multiple gunshots being fired on the north side of the mall, outside the entrance to the food court.

Springs Police say they do not have anyone in custody for the shooting and no one was injured.

Lt. John Koch with CSPD said police aren’t exactly sure how the incident happened, but they know it was between two groups of people and it was not a random shooting.

“It does appear to be from a group of individuals that knew each other, not a random person who showed up at the mall,” Koch said.

Koch said CSPD is still trying to find the suspects and they are not sure if it was just one group that fired at another, or if both groups were firing at each other.

Citadel Mall was not placed under evacuation. CSPD patrol is in the area with mall security.
