Water main work closes Academy Blvd.

Southbound lanes on N. Academy between Village Rd. and Radiant Dr. were closed starting Tuesday morning due to water main repairs.

One northbound lane is open for southbound traffic.

The closure will continue until Thursday evening. Crews expect significant delays in the area.

Alternate routes to get around the road work:

N. Union Blvd. Carefree Circle or Oro Blanco Dr.

One driver, Eddie Marion said, “Even like the other way coming from the supermarket, King Soopers, I live there off of Rebecca so not even close to the water main, but it still took me 25 minutes to get home when it usually only takes me five.”

Macall Bowman added, “A lot of people get super frustrated and there’s not much you can do about it.”

If you want to try and avoid the traffic, try taking Village Road and Carefree Circle to North Murray Blvd. Or, you can get off at Maizeland or Constitution and head to Murray Blvd.

The good news is currently no customers are without water.
