Cooler work week ahead – 09/23/18

Tonight: Colorado Springs broke another record today with a high of 87 degrees! That exceeds the previous record originally set in 1924 of 86. Overnight, temperatures cool off to the 40s and 50s under mostly clear skies. We’ll be dry tonight.

Tomorrow: Buckle up for some cooler weather tomorrow! Temperatures drop between five to ten degrees for highs after a weak cold front tracks south in the morning. Even still, temperatures will be above-average! Partly to mostly sunny skies are on tap for southern Colorado along with isolated showers and storms. The biggest threats from storms will be gusty winds and lightning. Here’s a fun fact about tomorrow: one or two inches of snow could accumulate along the Continental Divide! Fire danger could be somewhat elevated in the lower elevations meanwhile, so use caution.

Extended: Temperatures drop further Tuesday and Wednesday with highs only in the 60s and 70s! For those who are excited for the cooler weather, it will be a nice change. The cooler weather will decrease fire danger a bit. A few isolated storms are a possibility Tuesday with these storms taking place primarily over the mountains. A spotty shower or two could linger into early Wednesday morning, but there’s still uncertainty regarding what to expect. A light dusting of snow could grace Pikes Peak between Tuesday and Wednesday, PS! Temperatures then warm up again into the end of the week and following weekend.
