Heavy hail in Fountain stacking up more than a foot high

A Fountain neighborhood familiar with hail damage was hit hard for the second time this year. Hail packed the streets and sidewalks making it look like a winter wonderland in the summer.

It piled up more than a foot high. Sabrina Cotten one of the people living in the south-east Fountain neighborhood says she has never seen anything like it, “It’s amazing! It looked like it snowed in July.”

Kids enjoying the unique sight as neighbors came together to shovel the mounds of hail. Chris Corl says when he woke up Monday morning, he didn’t expect this much hail this time of year. “I don’t expect this in Fountain in July,” Corl says, “It’s just not normal, It’s out of this world.”

The sea of hail sticking together. Walls of it stacking up to be more than a foot high. Gina Boneta says at one point it was waist deep, “It was up past the tire wells on the vehicles you had no time to move anything.”

At only about the size of a pea, it was not as bad as the storm that caused significant damage in June. However, it did still cause damage to cars and homes. Flooding also occurred. Making the homeowners once again have to deal with the consequences of mother nature.
