More storms with a flash flooding risk – 07/16/18

Today: We have a similar risk for some pockets of heavy rain and flash flooding today; however, this threat will be primarily focused south of Highway 50 along the Raton Mesa and the Wets and Sangres. It’s in these areas where we have Flash Flood Watches continuing until this afternoon. Recent burn scars will be the most susceptible to rapidly-developing floods. Highs today will be cooler thanks to a cold front yesterday. Highs will reach the 70s and 80s for the lower elevations. Mostly cloudy skies are expected.

Tonight: Storms will be winding down overnight. Lows drop to the 50s and 60s under mostly cloudy skies.

Extended: Some scattered storms continue Tuesday. If any storms produce heavy rain and track over recent burn scars, we’ll have the risk for more flash flooding. Wednesday and Thursday appear to be drier. Friday through next weekend, we’ll be tracking an increase in storms. Temperatures rebound to the 80s and 90s on Tuesday, and that’s roughly where we stay through the remainder of your seven day forecast.
