New wildfire burns in west Colorado

A new wildfire broke out Friday in western Colorado near Redvale.

According to the Bureau of Land Management, the fire had burned about 260 acres as of 6:30 p.m. and is burning pinyon-juniper. The smoke can be seen from San Miguel County. ( MAP )

Multiple firefighting crews are on the way to the fire, and some are already on scene, BLM said. It’s being called the Upper Mailbox Fire. Two heavy air tankers, two single-engine air tankers, and one lead plane were ordered Friday afternoon.
