COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO)-- A 32-year-old man has been arrested after reportedly stealing a car and attempting to evade police.

On Monday, October 2, at around 10 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) received an emergency call for service at the 400 block of N. Murray Blvd. from a person reporting their car had been stolen and that the suspect was armed with a gun.

Around 1:20 a.m., officers investigating the carjacking ended up finding the car at the 200 block of S. Academy Blvd.

The CSPD reports when officers attempted to stop the car, that’s when the suspect tried to flee from officers in the victim’s car.

A pursuit occurred but the suspect ended up losing control of the car and crashed on N. Academy Blvd., just south of Constitution Ave.

The suspect was not injured in the accident and no other citizens in the area or police officers were involved in the crash.

The suspect, now identified as Eric Jones, was taken into custody and is now facing several charges including Aggravated Robbery, Vehicular Eluding, and Motor Vehicle Theft.
