Teller County deputies arrest man with dozens of stolen IDs

Deputies in Teller County stopped to help a man on the side of the road last Sunday, but it turned into an arrest after they found more than 50 different identity documents and drugs.

It happened on County Road 25 when the deputies spotted Richard Wayne Beam and thought he needed assistance. They ended up finding a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, plus Colorado IDs, Colorado driver’s licenses, Social Security cards, credit cards, blank checks, bank account numbers, routing numbers, and other documents.

Police around the Pikes Peak region are still trying to contact all of the identified victims.

Beam faces more than 100 criminal charges in total, including five counts of criminal possession of identification documents, 43 counts of criminal possession of financial transaction device, 66 counts of identity theft, and numerous misdemeanor charges.
