Mostly sunny today and cooler Easter – 03/31/18

Today: Highs will reach the 60s in the lower elevations with the 40s for the local mountains. Lots of sunshine with streaming high clouds are expected. It’ll be great for getting outside and enjoying the lovely weather! We do have some elevated fire danger, so that will be a concern for us today; however, humidity levels aren’t low enought to need any Red Flag Warnings.

Tonight: Lows drop to the 20s and 30s. Our forecast overnight and into tomorrow is very tricky. We’ll have mostly cloudy skies; however, we could see fog developing for some in the lower elevations. The exact timing and coverage of this fog is difficult to pinpoint, but this could make for a cold morning for church services and outdoor Easter egg hunts.

Extended: Cloudy skies could stick around for much of the day in southern Colorado if the low-level easterly winds and cold air stays locked along and east of the I-25 corridor, but models are split as to if the fog develops and when it could clear out. Our forecast for tomorrow has a high chance of totally busting due to these clouds. If the cloudy skies stick around for a long time, temperatures will end up being cooler and the reverse would be true if sunshine develops sooner than expected. Beyond that, we’re tracking fire danger Monday with significantly warmer temperatures. A few showers are possible next week.
