Allegiant Air halts service in Colorado Springs
A lack of demand forces Allegiant Air to halt its service in Southern Colorado after 16 years. Allegiant Air only only operates one-round-trip flight to Las Vegas on Fridays and Sundays.
The final decision comes after the first two months of this year; the Colorado Springs Airport serviced more than 127,000 passengers. Of those, Allegiant Air boarded about 1,500. Their biggest competition?
Frontier Airlines– with the same route and daily low-fare services to Las Vegas.
Colorado Springs’ Airport aviation director says the decision was all based on lack of demand.
“This dark spot with allegiant leaving is something we are not happy about but again we are not losing the destination and our bet is our overall numbers will not really be affected by allegiants departure,” Greg Phillips.
The last flight scheduled for Allegiant Air is on April 29th, 2018.
