Fatal crash on Highway 24

The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that happened around 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Officials say Richard Alessi was driving eastbound on Colorado Highway 24 when his Honda Accord drifted into the westbound lane and onto the north shoulder, where he crashed into a guardrail.

Alessi overcorrected his car and ended up in front of a Dodge Ram truck driven by Justin Lanzor.

The two vehicles collided.

Alessi was taken to the hospital via Flight for Life with serious injuries. His front seat passenger, Robert Writer-Alessi, was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The third passenger, Barbara Alessi, was sitting in the back seat behind the passenger and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Everybody in the Accord was wearing their seatbelts

Lanzor was taken in a personal vehicle to the hospital with minor injuries.

Alcohol and drugs are not a factor in the crash. The cause is still under investigation.
