Justin Kurth

KRDO

District 4 - Democratic Party

How does your experience make you qualified to represent the people?

I am a person constantly seeking how I can bring resources to my community. Whether public or private sector, I want to see jobs and investment grow our future. In my work history as a U.S. Marine, 911 Dispatcher, correctional officer, congressional staffer and now as a government affairs professional in the private sector where I work for a construction materials manufacturing company, I’ve spent years building relationships across stakeholders to build that growth: business owners, local officials, rural communities. I solve complex problems without the partisan theater because that’s who I am and that’s what the people are sick and tired of. That combination of frontline emergency response, military leadership, and collaborative problem-solving is what SD4 needs in the legislature.

What are your top policy priorities?

I will work to prioritize the following in my legislative efforts.

Removing barriers for businesses to thrive in rural Colorado and for family futures through childcare access, education investment, and housing affordability. Neither businesses nor families can plan anything without those pieces.

A statewide rural first responder compensation floor. Rural fire, EMS, and law enforcement are stretched thin. We need to make those careers viable in SD4.

Water partnership solutions that protect senior water rights tied to the upper basins while working with the Front Range on fair-share growth solutions. Water security is economic security.

What is one issue you think is being overlooked in this race, and how would you address it?

Rural hospitals, clinics, and the providers who staff them are the backbone of our rural healthcare system. When facilities close or talent leaves for the Front Range, families end up driving hours for care they should get close to home. I’ll work with legislators and the health department on targeted investment solutions to retain rural healthcare services, facilities, and providers.
