Alexander M. Africa

District 21 - Republican Party
How does your experience make you qualified to represent the people?
Service has been the foundation of my life. As a United States Air Force veteran, educator, nonprofit leader, and father, I have spent my career serving others and solving problems. Over the past two decades, I have led teams, managed budgets, taught and mentored students, and worked alongside community organizations to strengthen the communities we call home. Colorado is where I've raised my family and continued to serve the community.
I understand the challenges facing working families because I live them. My experiences in military service, education, business, and community leadership have given me a practical understanding of how government decisions impact everyday people. I am running to bring a servant-leadership approach to the State Capitol, focused on listening, accountability, and delivering results for the people of House District 21.
What are your top policy priorities?
My top priorities are affordability, public safety, veterans, and educational excellence.
Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy. As a State Representative, I will support policies that reduce unnecessary regulations, promote responsible taxation, and create an environment where small businesses can grow, hire, and succeed. When small businesses thrive, they create jobs, strengthen our communities, and help keep Colorado affordable for working families.
Colorado families are working harder but keeping less of what they earn. I support responsible budgeting, lower taxes where possible, and policies that help families, seniors, and small businesses keep more of their hard-earned money.
Public safety is essential to strong communities. I support law enforcement, first responders, and policies that hold criminals accountable while ensuring our neighborhoods remain safe.
As a veteran, I understand the challenges many service members and their families face after leaving the military. I will support policies that expand job opportunities, workforce training, educational pathways, and housing affordability while ensuring veterans have a strong voice in state government. I will work to keep Colorado a place where veterans and military families can succeed and thrive.
As a father of three, I also believe every child deserves access to a quality education. As an educator, I support empowering parents, strengthening educational opportunities, and ensuring students are prepared for success whether they choose college, the military, trades, or the workforce.
What is one issue you think is being overlooked in this race, and how would you address it?
One issue that deserves more attention is government transparency and accountability. Too many people feel disconnected from decisions being made on their behalf and believe their voices are not being heard.
As a State Representative, I will prioritize open communication with constituents, provide regular updates on legislation, and make myself accessible to the people I serve. Government works best when citizens are informed, engaged, and confident that their elected officials are acting responsibly with taxpayer dollars. Restoring trust begins with transparency and accountability.
