Pueblo trophy store makes signs for graduating seniors
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- COVID-19 is throwing a wrench in our daily lives. For high school seniors who've been waiting to walk at graduation, it's a huge bummer. Luckily, in Pueblo, the AJC Foundation and Awards by Trophy City teamed up to do something cool for the seniors.
They're making signs for seniors so the graduates can get some recognition and kudos.
"We know the sacrifices that have had to be made by families and seniors," said AJC founder Desiree Hermocillo. "Our goal is to really highlight the seniors and give them something to be recognized by and look forward to."
"With them not graduating in front of all of their family, definitely, they want to put it out there and I don't blame them," says Lori Guerrero, owner of Awards by Trophy City.
Awards by Trophy City has already printed almost 2,000 signs in the last two weeks. The signs cost just $10, which covers the cost of the signs. No one is making a profit, it's just for the good of the community.
"It was really overwhelming to see the support from school administrators, alumni foundations and just people in the community who are willing to pay for signs for students who may not have been able to," said Hermocillo. "We have a ton of community members who wish to help and just say, 'hey, put this towards someone that can't afford it.' It was really overwhelming to see the support."
