Custom car stolen from retired Marine dying from cancer

STOLEN CAR

FALCON, Colo. (KRDO) — Falcon Storage off Highway 24 was the last place Sgt. Donald Taylor’s custom 1927 black Ford Roadster Rat Rod was seen before it was stolen from the lot.

The former U.S. Marine was selling the car to pay for his cancer treatments. He planned to give anything leftover to his mother, who Taylor says, will likely outlive him.

“The car don’t mean nothing to me,” Taylor said through tears. “My mother means everything to me.”

Taylor is in the process of liquidating other assets. He had hoped to get $35,000 for his Rat Rod but recently lowered the price to encourage a buyer.

“I’m gonna go Marine on them, and I’m going to track them down and get my car back…after I wipe the tears from my eyes,” Taylor said.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft. Taylor is also offering a $1,000 reward.
