Man wanted on a warrant gets additional charges after assaulting Pueblo County Sheriff’s deputies

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A Pueblo man was arrested early Thursday morning, and is getting more charges than originally expected after allegedly struggling with peace officers during his arrest.

According to the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office (PCSO), 27-year-old Andru Reyes-Bernal was arrested after deputies responded to a 911 call around 11 p.m. on Wednesday. PCSO says when deputies arrived at the 5000 block of Red Creek Springs Road, they learned Reyes-Bernal was inside and wanted on a warrant related to a domestic violence incident. Earlier that week, PCSO said the victim in that case had suffered serious injuries.

Officials say that as deputies tried to contact Reyes-Bernal, he tried to run out of the back of the home and then struggled with PCSO officials as they tried to contact him. According to PCSO, deputies were treated for minor injuries afterwards.

Now, Reyes-Bernal is being charged with felony second-degree assault, false imprisonment, telephone obstruction, menacing and domestic violence. He now has two additional counts of second-degree assault on a peace officer, according to officials.

He was booked at the Pueblo County Jail, PCSO says. His original warrant was a no-bond warrant, according to officials.
