Colorado Springs company gifts 3 new furnaces to families in need
Three families in the Colorado Springs area are receiving new furnaces courtesy of a local HVAC company.
Peak Home Performance will be installing the furnaces over the next few weeks, as the winter weather continues to roll in. The families were chosen as part of a contest where they had to explain their situation and why they deserved the help.
Peak Home Performance management says Shawna Lannigan and her family were chosen because of their story.
Shawna’s daughter's father died in a motorcycle crash in June, taking not only an immense emotional toll on the family, but also a financial one.
“With everything going on right now, I live pretty much paycheck to paycheck,” said Shawna.
So, when she found out her furnace was going to kick the bucket, she acted quickly, wrote a letter to Peak Home Performance, and prayed.
“You’re always just worried about what can happen next, what’s gonna hit next and what are you going to do about it,” Shawna explained.
Out of more than 60 families that entered the contest, Shawna’s prayers were answered.
“It was just all kinds of emotions. I was in disbelief. Honestly, I’ve never won anything in my life, so it was just really a new feeling,” she said.
She’s more than grateful.
“It’s hard coming across people who are willing to help in the way that they're helping, so it’s a blessing. It’s huge.”
