COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A Colorado Springs man was arrested after he fled the scene of an auto vs. pedestrian accident Monday night.

Around 8 p.m., officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) were dispatched to an accident at Powers Blvd. and Palmer Park Blvd.

According to the CSPD, a man was crossing the intersection when he was hit by a northbound vehicle. The driver fled the scene, but investigators said a witness stopped and was able to provide information.

CSPD said the pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was taken to Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

Despite leaving the scene, police eventually found and arrested the driver, identified as Luke Zahn.

This was the first of two accidents involving a pedestrian Monday night. The second accident was fatal, breaking the city's record for most traffic deaths in one year.
