Yoder mom accused of killing newborn, burying in backyard, pleads not guilty to murder

KRDO

YODER, Colo. (KRDO) -- The woman accused of killing her newborn baby and burying the child in the ground pleaded not guilty to murder charges Wednesday morning.

Investigators believe when she was 19, Carr hid her pregnancy and gave birth to the child outside her Yoder home.

According to investigators, text messages to the baby's father show that Carr confessed to strangling the newborn and burying her in the backyard.

Carr texted things like they "might actually be done with this demon spawn," and that she was surprised how long it took to "strangle it before it even stopped breathing," calling the newborn a "strong lil' girl."

If convicted on the charges, Carr could spend the rest of her life behind bars. Her trial is scheduled for September.
