Pueblo ice cream truck driver cited for indecent exposure
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man was cited for indecent exposure and disorderly conduct after revealing himself in front of an ice cream truck in Pueblo.
In video footage obtained by KRDO13, a man later identified by police as Gabriel Lujan, is reportedly seen flashing security personnel and calling them names.
The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) confirmed they had cited Lujan after receiving video footage showing Lujan's conduct. The investigation began following an initial report that Lujan was falling asleep inside the ice cream truck while at work.
Candace Orf-Deisla, who lives near where Lujan's ice cream truck tends to park, said Lujan's presence in the area was an ongoing concern for families.
“He always seemed very creepy around here,” Orf-Deisla said. “And I never felt comfortable with my kids playing outside when he was going up and down.”
Orf-Deisla, who has children, said Lujan's behavior tended to make her uncomfortable. She said he would also play music throughout the neighborhood that she didn't think was suitable for kids.
“He was always blaring rap music that had cuss words that weren't blurred out or anything,” Orf-Deisla said. “And it just kind of made me wonder what he was trying to teach these kids that are around here.”
The behavior from Lujan, along with social media posts, have made families and neighbors uncomfortable.
"Especially with all these kids. Not every parent goes outside with their kids. We trust this neighborhood to be able to send our kids out to play," Orf-Deisla said.
She said the incident is making her wary of other ice cream trucks and letting her kids go buy a treat alone.
PPD confirms that in the video, you can hear security say that there are children around; however, none can be seen in the body cam footage.
KRDO13 also spoke with other ice cream truck businesses in Pueblo who say Lujan's behavior has been affecting them too. Some of them said they are getting threats from people thinking they are Lujan.
Lujan was officially cited after the incident by PPD.
