Submissions open for 2027 Discover COS calendar, highlighting city’s natural spaces

City of Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS) Department is accepting submissions for its 2027 Discover COS calendar.

The photo contest allows amateur and professional photographers to submit photos of the city's parks, trails and open sapces.

The city says the calendar doesn't have a theme, but rather asks photographers to submit photos that "celebrate the beauty, character and experiences found throughout Colorado Springs' parks, trails and open spaces," according to a press release.

Photographs taken at any Colorado Springs parks, trails and open spaces that are managed by PRCS will be accepted, but the department asked photographers to grab images from the following places:

  • Red Rock Canyon Open Space
  • North Cheyenne CaƱon Park
  • The Manitou Incline
  • Memorial Park
  • Legacy Loop
  • Quail Lake Park
  • Monument Valley Park

Submissions will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4. Photographers can submit up to five pictures each.

Officials say proceeds will go towards planting trees at the Snyder Quarry in Black Canyon Open Space.

More information on requirements and how to submit photos can be found on the city's website.
