Man suspected of robbing Woodland Park hotel arrested Monday near Cripple Creek
TELLER COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) - On Saturday, Jan. 6, Woodland Park Police Department (WPPD) officers responded to the Microtel Inn and Suites on Country Dr. for an armed robbery.
The WPPD said a man wearing a ski mask and an Amazon jacket entered the hotel and showed a gun to employees before leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash.
On Monday, Jan. 8, the suspect, now identified as 38-year-old Kyle Jamison, was spotted at a casino in Cripple Creek. The WPPD said the Cripple Creek Police Department and Colorado Division of Gaming agents attempted to contact Jamison’s vehicle as it exited the casino parking garage, but he rammed units from each department. No injuries were reported to any officers.
Jamison's vehicle was located later in the day Monday, north of Cripple Creek, just off Highway 67, the Teller County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) said.
The TCSO said personnel from their office tracked Jamison for several miles through rough terrain and deep snow. Just after 5 p.m. Jamison was taken into custody and was transported to the Pikes Peak Regional Hospital for hypothermia. He also has several felony warrants out of Colorado Springs and is on parole, according to the TCSO.
