Suspect arrested after attempting to rob a shopper outside Colorado Springs business

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A suspect is in custody Monday morning after attempting to rob a shopper outside a nearby Colorado Springs business.

According to the police report, police from the Sand Creek Division responded to a robbery in progress at the 1800 S. Academy Blvd. The incident happened around 9:34 a.m.

Shortly after, the victim deployed pepper spray in the suspect's face. The suspect ran from the scene and attempted to carjack a nearby person.

The suspect fled from the second victim after failing to get into the car and ran into a business to wash the pepper spray from his face.

Once police arrived on scene, the suspect was arrested without incident.
