As Loveland enters new phase of COVID restrictions, could Monarch Mountain also?

Skiers and Riders enjoy new terrain on Peak 6

CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- As COVID-19 cases in Colorado continue to Rise, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment issued Level Red to Clear Creek County.

The new restrictions place limitations on the Loveland Ski Area, starting on Friday, November 20th, and will continue for 30 days.

It means indoor dining and bar services will not be allowed at either the Loveland Basin or Valley lodges. The restrictions also apply to picnic style and brown bag meals, which will not be allowed inside the lodges.

Monarch Mountain says that if Chaffee County hits Level Red, the mountain is preparing to accommodate skiers and snowboarders. The ski area has improved WiFi in the parking lot.

Scott Pressly, Vice President of Mountain Operations, says "We’ve been working extremely hard, revamping all of our systems, basically looking at re-doing every single aspect of our operations."

The new systems include self-serve kiosks for purchasing tickets, reduced dining tables and 30-minute time limits at restaurant booths. Monarch added several of the booths at the Sidewinder Saloon for extra personal space between groups.

In the event that indoor dining must be shut down, Monarch added an additional grab-and-go outdoor food trailer, called FlyBy Burritos.

Currently, Chaffee County sits at Level 2 (Orange) on the COVID-19 dial.
