STEM school shooter arraignment delayed to 2020

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (KRDO) -- One of the teenagers accused of planning the STEM School shooting in May has had his arraignment delayed.

Prosecutors say 16-year-old Alec McKinney planned the shooting that killed one student, Kendrick Castillo, and injured eight others.

On Monday afternoon, a judge continued his arraignment and will now occur on February 7.

In November, a judge decided McKinney would be tried as an adult and face the same 43 charges as his co-conspirator 18-year old Devon Erickson.

Erickson claims McKinney forced him to go through with the shooting.

Snapchat videos played during Erickson's preliminary hearing show Erickson using cocaine, and what is assumed to McKinney's voice telling to him to, "***ing do it!"

Both teenagers are facing first-degree murder charges.

Erickson's preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 2, 2020.

It's unclear when their trials will be scheduled.
