Reviewing timeline of missing Woodland Park woman’s case
A Woodland Park mother disappeared 3 1/2 weeks ago, and the mystery is having an emotional impact on authorities and the community.
Kelsey Berreth, 29, hasn’t been seen since Thanksgiving Day, a time when families come together.
KRDO NewsChannel 13 reviews the timeline of developments in the case, based on information from police and relatives.
On Nov. 22, Berreth spoke with her mother by cellphone several times. Around noon that day, surveillance video in a Safeway grocery store shows her entering the store and pushing a grocery cart that carried her 1-year-old daughter, Kaylee.
Berreth disappeared later that day after taking her daughter to stay with Patrick Frazee, reportedly Berreth’s fiance’. It would be several days before he reported her missing.
There were several interesting developments three days later, on Nov. 25. Berreth’s employer received a text from her phone, asking for a few days off. Frazee also received a text from the phone, but there’s no word on what the message was. The phone was traced to Idaho, around 700 miles away from Woodland Park.
A week later, on Dec. 2, police checked Berreth’s home at the request of her mother. Officers found her gone and determined only her cellphone was missing.
On Dec. 4, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation joined police and the Teller County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation.
On Dec. 10, police and Berreth’s family spoke publicly about the case for the first time, with few details given about why and how she vanished.
On Dec. 12, Frazee’s attorney, Jeremy Loew, said his client had cooperated with authorities by surrendering his cellphone and providing DNA and physical evidence. It has since been revealed that Frazee is cooperating only through Loew and has yet to be officially interviewed by authorities.
On Dec. 13, dozens of people attended a candlelight vigil for Berreth in Woodland Park.
On Dec. 14, authorities served a search warrant by breaking the locks on a gate outside Frazee’s property in Florissant. Police held another news conference, again providing little new information about the investigation.
