Full-sized replica of the Titanic could sail as early as 2022

The long-delayed launch of the full-sized replica of the Titanic is officially setting sail.

CNN reports the Australian businessman and politician Clive Palmer who is behind the controversial project, announced his plans back in September of 2015, but the idea was floated after a dispute with the Chinese government. However, they are now bringing the plan back to the drawing board.

It’s been said the Titanic II will be an exact copy of the infamous first ship, which sank in 1912 after colliding with an iceberg and killing 1,503 people.

Creators say to help keep this from happening a second time, the new ship will apparently be equipped with plenty of lifeboats and have a welded hull, different from the original’s riveted hull.

Palmer told CNN, the ship will also follow the original journey of the Titanic, taking passengers from Southhampton to New York. From there it will continue across the globe, most likely captivating the attention of everyone who spots her.

It’s been said the journey will take place sometime in 2022.
