Weather Alert Day, rain and snow – 10/8/18

TODAY: Today is going to be a day for the umbrella and the winter coat! You’ll be waking up to areas of steady rain, fog and low clouds! Places over the Palmer Divide and in Teller County will be seeing snow mixing in at times. Light accumulations are possible on grassy areas in these spots, but overall, this will be a very low impact event. You’ll really just notice a lot of wet roads this morning and reduced visibility at times, because the pavement will be too warm for snow to accumulate. The cloudiest and most active part of the day will occur through noon. Following this, showers taper off into the evening. Highs today will be drastically different across the southern half of the state. You folks out over the Plains will feel the 50s and 60s today, 40s in the lower elevations of the Pikes Peak Region, with 30s and 40s in our mountain cities.

TONIGHT: A few rain and snow showers are possible, but most places stay dry and mostly cloudy. Patchy fog is possible with areas of freezing temperatures.

EXTENDED: Tomorrow could bring a few more rain and snow showers with chilly highs in the 30s and 40s, but nothing compared to today’s coverage. Wednesday will be the best day of the week with sunshine and highs in the 50s and 60s. The showers and storms return for Thursday and Friday before we dry out over the weekend. Highs will be in the 60s Thursday, 40s Friday with 50s and 60s on Saturday and Sunday.
