Stormy day ahead- 7/23/18

TODAY: It’s a weather alert day! A cold front moving through the area combined with monsoonal moisture will lead to multiple rounds of showers and storms this afternoon and evening. The biggest threats from these storms will be large hail, gusty winds, and frequent lightning. These storms will also contain heavy rain, which leaves the potential for flash flooding. Burn scars will be at the greatest risk for flash flooding. Remember.. TURN AROUND AND DON’T DROWN! A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for all of Southern Colorado until midnight. Otherwise, highs will be in the 70s and 80s, with some 60s throughout the high country.

TONIGHT: Showers and storms will diminish slowly overnight, leaving party cloudy skies. Temps will be in the 50s and 60s.

EXTENDED: As we go through the next several days, shower and storm chances will remain in the forecast. The main threats from these storms could include large hail, gusty winds, and frequent lightning. Any showers or storms will likely have heavy rain, so flash flooding is still a threat to look out for. Thanks to shower and storm activity, temps will stay below average as well for the next several days throughout southern Colorado.
