Strong winds and fire danger today – 12/08/17

Today: This morning, we’re battling some slick spots and light snow accumulations from overnight in Woodland Park and Monument. Be careful if you’re commuting in those areas this morning! Any lingering showers along the Raton Mesa should clear by mid-morning. We’ll have mostly sunny skies later today, and STRONG winds! In fact, we have a wind alert level two in effect. We could get gusts to 50 mph! This will be elevating fire danger. That’s exactly why we have Red Flag Warnings in effect for the I-25 corridor and eastern plains. Use caution! We’re also expecting warmer temperatures compared to what we’ve seen recently.

Tonight: Red Flag Warnings expire at 5 p.m.; however, it will still be breezy overnight. Lows drop to the 20s under mostly clear skies.

Extended: We’ll have quieter weather this upcoming weekend. Temperatures will warm to the 50s and 60s – that’s above-average! We’ll stick with the sunshine and relatively warm temperatures throughout the rest of your seven day forecast.
