Pueblo group fighting utility rates
A group that helps the low income earners in Pueblo says families are suffering because of high electric rates.
POSADA Executive Director, Anne Stattleman, and a group of citizens voiced their concerns to City Council this week, saying Black Hills Energy is charging rates 70 percent higher than the state average.
The group’s looking to City Council for support to get the prices lowered. Stattleman says the rates are causing low-income families to lose their homes.
“I think it’s just time for really local citizens and the Pueblo City Council especially to really take this on as a measure of economic health,” said Stattleman.
Black Hills says they will work with customers on a payment plan if needed. Their rates are set with the help of the Public Utilities Commission.
