Woman dies after mobile home fire

A Colorado Springs woman has died after a fire at a mobile home park on Galley Road.

Firefighters were called to the Quail Hill Mobile Home Park at about 1 a.m. Saturday on a report of a fire.

Firefighters said they saw heavy smoke coming from a mobile home when they arrived.

Firefighters were able to rescue the woman from the home and transported her to a hospital where she later died of her injuries.

Fire crews found the fire in the bedroom and put the fire out before it spread to the rest of the house.

Firefighters said the cause of the fire is accidental. They said the woman was smoking while on home oxygen.

The El Paso County coroner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Fire officials said this is the first death they’ve had in a fire in the City of Colorado Springs this year.
