Western Colorado Wildfire Is 92 Percent Contained

A fire that has burned more than 9 square miles in western Colorado is 92 percent contained.

Fire managers said they expect it to be fully contained by Sunday.

Officials believe the fire was human-caused but investigators haven’t been able to determine exactly how it began.

No structures have burned.

The fire is 220 miles west of Denver near the Colorado-Utah border. It has cost about $3.3 million to fight.

A second fire has burned more than 6 square miles near Pagosa Springs, about 200 miles southwest of Denver.

No containment figure was released. A total of 20 houses and outbuildings are threatened but none have burned.

Fire managers say lightning started the blaze on May 13. It has cost $1.3 million to fight.
