Father, 3 Daughters Hurt In Crash

A father and three daughters were hurt in a crash Wednesday morning on Lake Avenue near Highway 115.

Westbound Lake Avenue was closed while police investigated the crash. It has since reopened.

Police said the father, 35-year-old Michael Bobain was taking his daughter and two step-daughters to school. He ran a stop sign and was broadsided by another vehicle.

All three girls, ages 11, 15, and 16, were ejected from their car after it was broadsided by a car headed westbound on Lake Avenue. One of the daughters was thrown as far as 30 feet and another was trapped under a vehicle.

The driver of the other car was not seriously hurt.

Police said the three daughters are in critical condition. One daughter was flown to a Denver hospital. She suffered severe burns and underwent surgery. The other two girls are at Memorial Hospital.

The father suffered minor injuries. He was treated and released.

Officers said the girls were not wearing seatbelts.

Police said Bobain was ticketed for careless driving involving injury.
