Severe thunderstorms possible in southern Colorado
UPDATE 3:30pm: A severe thunderstorm is located in central Lincoln County moving east at 15-20mph. This storm is capable of producing quarter size hail and wind gusts over 40mph. Locations impacted will be Kit Carson and Cheyenne Counties. Further south, a line of weaker thunderstorms is approaching HWY 50. Lightning and heavy rain possible from La Junta to Lamar. Currently just a few light rain showers across the I-25 corridor.
Earlier
A severe thunderstorm was issued for parts of Huerfano and Pueblo counties until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, and storms are expected to pop up in the region throughout the afternoon.
The National Weather Service says 60 mph wind gusts and ping pong ball sized hail is expected from the storm moving northeast through the counties.

Scattered storms are likely through the duration of the afternoon. There is still the chance that one or two will become strong to severe over the next few hours.
Hail and gusty winds will be the primary threats. Locally heavy rain could also cause isolated burn scar and urban flash flooding.
