One man dead in southern Colorado Springs shooting

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - One man is dead after a shooting early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to a call about a shooting at Whitney Young Manor around 3:15 Sunday morning. When they got there, police say the man was already dead from a gunshot wound.

Some neighbors told KRDO crews they think there needs to be more security measures to prevent crime in the area.

"I don't think it's safe here," said Robert Shepherd. "I'm worried about the kids more lately. I think we need to bring in the security teams and make it more safer for our community."

It's unclear whether the suspect in this deadly shooting has been arrested. We'll keep you updated here as we learn more.

Detectives with the CSPD Violent Crimes Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation and have asked that anyone who witnessed the shooting or may have any information about it, call the Colorado Springs Police Department at (719) 444-7000.
