COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A 20-year-old man is dead after crashing an SUV early Monday morning on a highway going south from Colorado Springs.

The crash happened around 6:45 a.m. and caused both southbound lanes of Interstate 25 to be closed near S. Academy Boulevard.

Colorado State Patrol says the driver was the only one involved in the crash and died at the scene of the crash. He didn't have a driver license, CSP said.

The driver hasn't been identified yet.

Interstate 25 reopened at about 10 a.m.

  1. So the question is: Did he just NOT have a license, OR had his license been taken away? Either way he was driving illegally, and the Insurance Company (If he had insurance) should say, “NO PAYMENTS FOR ANYTHING!” because he was breaking the law.

I know it sounds mean, but hey, what can I say…

  2. A third possibility is that he has a license but didn’t have it with him. I admit that that has happened before with me. Another possibility is that the Jeep was stolen.

      1. Also according to KKTV, the person who died was one of two passengers in the vehicle, and it was the driver (not the deceased person) whose license was suspended. So KRDO has it all wrong again.
