Man arrested for shooting at hotel near Old Colorado City
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Police say officers arrested a suspect accused of a shooting Tuesday evening at a hotel on the west side of Colorado Springs after he backed into an officer's cruiser.
CSPD reported that officers were called to the Travelodge at 2625 Ore Mill Road after getting multiple calls about a shooting. The officers found a man who was shot, and he was taken to the hospital.
Witnesses gave police a description of the shooting suspect, and other officers found him getting into a white pickup truck before driving away.
Police followed the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Daniel Schwenk, and tried to pull him over. CSPD says Schwenk backed into an unmarked police cruiser but then got stuck at an area near 21st St. and Lower Gold Camp Road.
The victim is expected to survive, police said.
Schwenk was charged with first-degree assault.
