Shield 616 donating equipment to UCCS police

The non-profit organization Shield 616 will be donating equipment to officers with the UCCS Police Department Wednesday afternoon.

The donation will include specialized vests and helmets designed to protect officers from high-powered rifle rounds, as well as optical equipment designed to help them see a gunman during an active shooter scenario.

The equipment will be delivered after a short ceremony, and a demonstration of how each piece is used.

Shield 616’s founder, Jake Skifstad, will also deliver remarks before the demonstration. Several law enforcement members and leaders from the university will also be present.

The presentation begins at 1 p.m. at the Roaring Fork Dining Hall Multipurpose Room at UCCS.
