People help bust illegal marijuana grows in Pueblo County

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office has collected thousands of marijuana plants and seized hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment. Deputies say these busts all start with one tip.

Bureau Chief Dave Lucero said 10 of the 15 busts in the last month were because of tips from people.

He also said deputies receive information from people all over Pueblo County on a daily basis about potential illegal grows.

“They are driving the operation. We are taking our cues from the public; whenever there is a rise in crime or rise of concern, they are going to call us,” Lucero said.

Since March 14, deputies have arrested 22 people and seized nearly 4,600 plants at 15 different homes. Fourteen of them were in Pueblo West.
