Colorado Springs Park Vandalized by Driver

(10/10/15) The Colorado Springs Police Department is looking for a driver who destroyed part of a park early Saturday morning.

It happened around 1:30 am at Jenkins Park, north of the Broadmoor.

Officers say they got a call that a person in a Dark Mercedes SUV was doing donuts in the park.

When officers arrived on scene they attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle would not stop.

The officers did not pursue the driver. The vehicle was found a short time later, unoccupied near Otter Ave and W. Cheyenne Rd. Officers were unable to contact the registered owner of the vehicle and the vehicle was impounded.

The driver left tread marks in grassy areas of the park, and also damaged several signs.

Police estimate the damage is between $1,000 and $5,000.

CSPD is looking for a suspect, who may face felony charges.
