A rider in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb was killed after a crash at the finish line Sunday.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said Bobby Goodin, 54, was airlifted from the finish line to Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. He later died from his injuries.

The Texas native lost control of his bike in a gravel area after finishing the race.

This is the first time a person has been killed at the Hill Climb since 2005. A race official was killed in an accident.
