Nominations for D-11 school board now being accepted

Colorado Springs School District 11 Board of Education is accepting nominations of candidates for school board directors for the regular biennial school board election to be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013.

Three school board directors will be elected for a term of four years.

To be qualified, a candidate must have been a registered voter of the school district for at least `12 consecutive months before the election. A person is ineligible to run for school board director if he or she has been convicted of committing a sexual offense against a child.

A person who wants to be a candidate must file a written notice of intention and a nomination petition in accordance to with law.

Nomination petitions may be obtained from the Board of Education Officer, Colorado Springs School District 11. That office is located at 1115 North El Paso Street in Colorado Springs.

Completed petitions must contain at least 50 valid signatures and should be turned in no later than August 30, 2013.
