Spring has sprung

If there was something to do outside Sunday, there was plenty of Southern Coloradans outside doing it. The Parks were packed with families.

“This is the first time we really had a nice weekend,” said Phillip O’Brian as he tossed a football around.

Across town, at Powers and Palmer Park, Wrights Amusement Carnival was busy with kids thrilled to be out of the house.

“I’ve been feeling like oh my gosh, it’s so cold out I just need to stay inside and warm up,” Daniel Sebben said.

It’s been a wild ride for weather this month. In Colorado Springs so far in April, temperatures have been below average more than half the month, 17 days in all. The forecast appears to show May starting out below average as well.

National Historic Climatology Network data shows the United States is off to its second coldest start to spring ever. The only spring that was colder was back in 1975.
